We operate our own first-party analytics on the Lateral Insights website and newsletter to understand engagement with our content. By default this is pseudonymous.
As a subscriber, we associate your reading activity (pages viewed, newsletter opens and link clicks) with your subscriber record, identified by your email address, so that we can tailor what we share with you and manage our relationship with you. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in understanding engagement with our own content, balanced against your rights; we limit this to our own first-party analytics, and you can opt out at any time (see below).
We do not sell this information or share it with third parties, and we do not use it for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
We retain identity-linked engagement for 36 months, after which it is deleted or re-anonymized.
You may opt out of this personalization at any time — without unsubscribing from the newsletter — using the “Manage your choices” link in any email’s footer, or unsubscribe entirely.
